1985 | 1988 | London Theatre School |
I was born in London, grew up in Yorkshire and went to The London Theatre School, where I was student Union President and won the school's 1987 Prize Fight award with Chris Chaplin, son of Charlie.
At school I won the German prize, so I started my career working in Germany, first in English language theatre, then in German-speaking productions. I have never had a German agent until 2019. I have lived in Hamburg and worked in Dusseldorf, Munich and Berlin as well as touring for 6 months around central Germany in 1988.
In UK, I have worked in the theatre in Scotland, Wales, regional (reps and touring) as well as London (reps and West End). I was the Artistic Director of the award-winning British East-Asian Theatre Company Mu-Lan from 1997-2005. After this, I stepped back a little from theatre and have written comedy for TV (BBC and Channel 4) as well as developing a singing comedy act, which has been greatly acclaimed and seen me invited to Barbados, USA, France and Ireland to perform as well as all over the UK. A one man show, written and performed by me as this character at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival was sold out.
I have lived in SE London since 1990 and have a son at university.
